Switzerland: The 37th birthday of His Serenity the 11th Panchen Lama was officially observed in Switzerland.
On the morning of 25 April at 9:00 am, the Tibetan Women’s Association of Switzerland organised a celebration to mark the 37th birthday of the 11th Panchen Lama, Jetsun Tenzin Gedhun Yeshi Trinley Phuntsok Pal Sangpo. The ceremony was attended by Gaden Shartse Choeje Rinpoche, Chinese Liaison Officer for European countries Sangay Kyab (representing the Representative Thinlay Chukki), the abbot and monks of Rikon Monastery, and members of the Swiss-Tibetan community.
The proceedings began with Gaden Shartse Choeje Ngawang Jorden Pal Sangpo bestowing a White Tara Long-Life Empowerment. This was followed by the formal birthday ceremony. The abbot of Rikon Monastery delivered the opening address, followed by a speech from Chinese Liaison Officer Sangay Kyab.
In his remarks, he stated that the Tibet Bureau and the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) continue to advocate for the Panchen Lama’s case at the United Nations and other human rights organisations. He emphasised that every Tibetan has a responsibility to remain informed and actively engaged regarding the 11th Panchen Lama’s situation. He clarified that the Rinpoche was abducted by the Chinese government and did not simply “disappear,” stressing the importance of accurately presenting his history. He also shared his personal observations of the deep devotion and respect that Tibetans inside Tibet continue to hold for the reincarnation recognised by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
The event concluded with a speech by a representative of the Swiss-Tibetan community, followed by a closing address from the President of Swiss-Tibetan community.
