New Delhi: The global launch of Social, Emotional and Ethical learning (SEE) happens to be one of the pivotal moment in the education world. The groundbreaking event was able to garner much success partly because of the individuals and organisations who are actively involved, who believed in the program and the changes it would bring for the welfare of humanity. But most importantly, without His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s guidance, inspiration and support the project might not have gained such momentum.
Present at the event were representatives of the respective organisations. Apart from them, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Manish Sisodia and Nobel Laureate Shri Kailash Satyarthi were also present.
Addressing the gathering of educationists, policy leaders and students from various countries, Mr. Tenpa Tsering delivered keynotes on the contributions of the Dalai Lama Trust Foundation in the project.
He asserted that modern scientific and technological development has certainly brought in development in infrastructure and communication but only to the extent of physical comfort and convenience. True happiness and contentment he said are yet to attain.
“ There seems to be more competition, greed, jealousy which then leads to more hatred and selfishness. This is by and large the state of the world today” said Mr. Tenpa Tsering.
The education system today as Mr. Tenpa noted focuses more on the development of intellectual capacity neglecting the development of compassion and warm heart
The solution confirmed Mr. Tenpa, lies in the conviction and envision of His Holiness’s approach for a balanced education and thus urged the gathering to partake in the vision and the commitment of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in creating a better, peaceful and harmonious world.
Mr. Veer Singh, Founder of Vana Foundation expressed his blessedness to be a part of the launch of a remarkable work. He commended the framework and curriculum of SEE learning for its practicality, academic rigor, and its application and thanked the team of Emory University.
He further lauded the vision and wisdom of His Holiness for a compassionate and ethical world for all and expressed his sincere gratitude.
“ As an Indian, I cannot but feel immense gratitude to His Holiness who constantly remind us of our profound heritage of wisdom” claimed Mr. Veer Singh.
Mr. Veer Singh called the gathering to embrace SEE learning and asserted it was what the world needed more than ever for the well being of humanity.
“ there is no better time to begin a thoughtful journey to help cultivate the right values young and prepare their minds for a lifetime ahead” conferred Mr. Veer Singh.
While delivering congratulatory remarks on the launch of SEE learning project, Dr. Robert Paul, Dean of Emory University once again celebrated the glorification of His Holiness’s enlightened approach to a better education.
“It is that mission to educate both heart and mind so tirelessly and eloquently as aspired by His Holiness the Dalai Lama,” said Dr. Robert.
Dr. Robert declared that the younger generation is the resource that has the potential to liberate the challenges facing today’s world.
“What the world will become in the coming years will be determined by the choices these next generation will make and the actions they take,” he said.
Emory University as Dr. Robert alleged was necessitated to develop an educational system to address both heart and the mind catering the needs for both knowledge and the emotional, social and ethical understanding of self and others.
He maintained that SEE learning resonates the motto of Emory University as he quoted, “The wise heart seeks knowledge”.
The event witnessed a tremendous potential of both old and young generation marching towards a better future and better world.
