Dharamshala: The second leg of travelling exhibition and Tibet related movie screening in three centrally located Tibetan Settlements in India was held separately at two separate camps in Norgyeling Tibetan Settlement in Bandhara, Maharashtra from 2-3rd July. The travelling photo exhibition by the Tibet Museum of the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR), titled “Journey into Exile” and “Long Look Homeward” was held to mark 50 years-in-exile and to celebrate the 75th birth anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. On 2nd July 2010, a small function was held at Camp No# 1, where Mr. Sangpo la, the Tibetan Settlement Officer of Norgyelling settlement introduced the staff of the Tibet Museum to the settlement people and gave briefing about the exhibition. Mr. Penpa Tsering, a staff of the Tibet museum, gave a brief introduction about the exhibition, citing the purpose and the objectives of holding the travel exhibition in the settlements. Mr. Tashi Phuntsok, the officer incharge of the Travel Exhibition, in his presentation explained the details of the structure and functions of DIIR and the Tibet Museum. Mr. Tenzin Rabga, a staff of the Tibet museum invited the Chairman of the Local Assembly to inaugurate the exhibition. The museum team on 3rd July carried the exhibition to Camp No# 2 of the settlement. Tibet related documentary movies – Uprising in Tibet 2008 and What Remain of Us were also screened at both the camps. More than 600 Tibetans including students from Central School for Tibetan Gothangoan came to watch the photo exhibition and the documentary movies. Residents of the settlements from youngsters to elders most have highly appreciated the photo exhibition and have written positive comments on the travelling photo exhibition. Currently the Tibet Museum is holding a photo exhibition at Orissa Phuntsokling Tibetan Settlement for three days from 6 to 8 July coinciding with the 75th birth anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
