London: Eight monks of Chode Tashi Lhunpo Monastery will be embarking on a two-week Thank You Tour to the three Baltic countries of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, to showcase the rich Tibetan Buddhist cultural heritage.
Initiated and coordinated by the Office of Tibet, London, this cultural tour is a part of Thank You Year activities to express the Tibetan people’s gratitude to the people and government of the three Baltic States for their support over the years.
31 March, 2018 marks the beginning of the 60th anniversary since His Holiness the Dalai Lama first came into exile to India from Tibet, followed by thousands of Tibetan refugees. Tibetans around the world are observing the year 31 March 2018 to 30 March 2019 as a ‘Thank You Year’ to express their gratitude to all their friends and supporters globally.
Through the creation of sand mandalas and famed Black Hat cham performances, the cultural group led by coordinator Jane Rasch, will take the opportunity to thank the people of the Baltic States and also create more awareness of the rich Tibetan cultural heritage. Coinciding with the centennial year of the independence of the three Baltic States, the cultural Thank You Tour will be one more reason for celebration to the people oF Baltic States.
