Washington: Jointly organised by Washington’s Office of Tibet and the Tibetan Association in Northern California (TANC), a workshop on SEE Learning was conducted for teachers of 18 Tibetan weekend schools in North America.
The workshop conducted from 17-19 March is on par with the resolution passed by the 20th North America Tibetan Associations Conference. The trainers for this workshop is led by Geshe Lobsang Tenzin Negi ( Executive Director at Emory University’s Center for Contemplative Science and Compassion-Based Ethics), Tsondue Samphel (Senior translator/interpreter at Emory), Los Angeles-based veteran teacher Tenzin Chemi Nuwa and Tenzin Norbu Nangsel. The latter two presented instruction on ‘effective instructional strategies of teaching Tibetan to Tibetan children abroad’.
The inaugural of the three-day workshop was attended by Representative Dr Namgyal Choedup, Tibetan liaison officer Kunga Tashi, TANC President Jinpa Tharchin and Namchokyal school’s principal Kalsang Dorjee.
The worldwide initiative of SEE Learning is based on the guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to promote a holistic education of heart and mind and heart. The proceedings of the workshop will be live-streamed on TibetTV’s YouTube page and TANC’s FB page.
