Taipei, Taiwan: The first semester of Tibet course introduced by the Yungho Community University concluded last Saturday with a formal closing exhibition organised by the University here at the August 23 Memorial Park.
Beginning last September, about 36 students attended the University course on Tibetan history, religion and culture. The course entailed a weekly three-hour-long class for 18 weeks.
A group of current students, including the oldest 89-year-old, installed a special stall at the Memorial Park and promoted the Tibet course by distributing various information material on Tibet, including books and periodicals published by the Taiwan Office of Tibet.
Many of the current students have already registered for the new semester beginning March this year. The weekly classes of the new semester will be taught by Dawa Tsering, His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s representative in Taiwan.
According to Representative Dawa Tsering, the new semester will cover a whole range of topics related with Tibetan history, religion, culture and astrology.
The last semester was taught by Representative Dawa Tsering; Mr. Sonam Dorje, the former secretary of the Taiwan Office of Tibet; Geshe Jampel Choezin, the religious teacher at the Office of Tibet; and Ms. Lu, the chief editor of The Sky Above Tibet, a quarterly magazine published by the Office of Tibet.
