Taipei, Taiwan: Over fifty Tibetans and Taiwanese gathered yesterday here at the Liberty Square to celebrate the 28th Anniversary of the conferment of the Noble Peace Prize to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Following the reading out of the Kashag’s statement, the event featured an hour-long prayer session for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Speaking on the occasion, Representative Dawa Tsering reiterated the significance of the conferment of Noble Peace Prize to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

After thanking all those who had gathered for the occasion, he also announced that the Taiwan Office of Tibet will, as planned by the Kashag, mark the next fiscal year as the Thank You Taiwan Year with a series of events.

The year 2018 will also be marked as the 20th founding anniversary of the Taiwan Office of Tibet.

Yesterday was also the last day of the nine-day exhibition on the history of Tibet organized by the Taiwan Tibetan Welfare Association with active participation of the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress.

Lobsang Tsewang, the vice-president of the Taiwan Tibetan Welfare Association, in his inaugural address, thanked all the Tibetans and Taiwanese who have actively assisted in the successful organization of the exhibition on Tibetan history.
