Dehradun: CTA President Dr. Lobsang Sangay visited TCV school Selakui and addressed the students as part of a week-long official visit to various settlements in Dehradun.
Earlier in the day, President visited Lingtsang Tibetan settlement in Manduwala and addressed the people of the settlement. He apprised the gathering about CTA’s upcoming second Five-Fifty Youth Forum. He also talked about various development initiatives taken by CTA focused on socio-economic development including the educational systems.
Later that day, President Sangay addressed the teachers and students of TCV Selakui school. He talked on the key topic of ’discrimination’ while speaking on the subject, President Sangay said that students are often victimized by prejudice and discrimination in schools. In fact, ”accept that discrimination is prevalent and its existence everywhere,” said President.
How one responds to discrimination and handle discrimination is more important said, President Sangay. He cited an example of himself and disclosed that he too faced similar problem while growing up and therefore advised to inculcate love and compassion instead. Once again He emphasised on practicing the right way to overcome discrimination.
Thereafter, Mr Duke Tsering, Principal of the school conferred President Sangay with the gift of poetry composed by the students as a memento of appreciation and in the honour of his visit to the school
