Students of New Delhi’s American Embassy School Send Birthday Cards to the Panchen Lama
Dharamshala, 27 April 2005: Third-grade students of the American Embassy School (AES) in New Delhi handmade more than 100 birthday cards for the 11th Panchen Lama on its second Annual Tibet Day.

The event, which was initially planned to coincide with the birthday of the 11th Panchen Lama, Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, took place three days in advance on 22 April.
Due to lack of the Panchen Lama’s postal address, the school later submitted the birthday cards to the United Nation’s office for its delivery.
On the Annual Tibet Day, over 400 students of AES learn about the tradition and culture of Tibet by intermingling with the local Tibetan students.
This year, 21 students from the Tibetan Day School, Majnu-Ka-Tilla, presented traditional Tibetan dances and introduced Tibetan games like abdo and theple.
Tsewang Gyalpo, a staff of the Department of Information and International Relations, was again invited to narrate some of the folk stories from his book to the junior AES students.
Paljor Publications organised an exhibition of books related to Tibetan history, culture and language.
The first Annual Tibet Day was organised last year on 27 April.
