Dharamshala: Concurring with the ongoing Himachal Pradesh Assembly (Vidhan Sabha)’s Winter Session scheduled from 10th to 15th of December at Tapovan, near Dharamshala, the Tibetan Parliamentarians led by Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, with an invitation from Shri Rakesh Pathania, Minister of Forest (Himachal Pradesh) visited the Himachal Pradesh Assembly yesterday, 14th December.
Speaker met with the Speaker Shri Vipin Singh Parmar, Shri Mukesh Agnihotri (Leader of Opposition), Shri Rakesh Pathania (Minister of Forest), Smt. Sarveen Chaudhary (Social Justice and Empowerment Minister), and Shri Sukh Ram (MPP and Power Minister).
For the very first time, the Tibetan Parliamentarians consisting of Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, and Parliament Members Khenpo Kada Ngedup Sonam, Geshe Ngaba Gangri, Phurpa Dorjee Gyaldhong, Dawa Tsering, Dawa Phunkyi, Dhondup Tashi, Lobsang Gyatso Sither, Pema Tso, and Lobsang Thupten were honoured and accorded a warm welcome at the session with Speaker Shri Vipin Singh Parmar introducing each Tibetan Parliament member in the house.
Expressing his gratitude to India, its people, and especially Himachal Pradesh for being home to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Administration for the past six decades, the Speaker highlighted the thousands of years of cordial India-Tibet relations in the field of religion and culture.
Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel presented souvenirs to Shri Vipin Singh Parmar, Shri Mukesh Agnihotri, & Shri Rakesh Pathania and ceremonial scarves to Smt. Sarveen Chaudhary, and Shri Sukh Ram. In return, Speaker led Tibetan Parliamentarians were honoured with Himachali caps and shawls. Tibetan Parliamentarians were then served lunch at the HP Vidhan Sabha.
Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel of the Tibetan Parliament also extended an invitation to the Speaker Shri Vipin Singh Parmar of Himachal Vidhan Sabha to visit Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile in near future.
