Dharamshala: On 2 November 2024, Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel and parliamentarian Geshe Lharampa Atuk Tseten departed from New Delhi to Bomdila via Guwahati.
Upon arrival at Guwahati airport, they were received by Tenzin Gang Settlement’s Tibetan Local Assembly Chair Phuntsok Tsering. During their journey to Bomdila via Tenzin Gang Settlement, they were welcomed by Tenzin Gang Settlement Officer Rabten Tsering along the way.
Upon arriving at Tenzin Gang Settlement in the afternoon, they were warmly received by the Chakzoe of Gyuto Monastery, the Bomdila coordinator, settlement office staff, settlement’s camp leaders, representatives from the local cooperative society, health center, regional Tibetan Youth Congress, regional Tibetan Women’s Association, and teachers and students from Sambhota Tibetan School. Under the guidance of the monastery’s Chakzoe, they visited Gyuto Monastery and attended a tea reception with local dignitaries.
As they continued their journey to Bomdila, they were welcomed by scattered Tibetan communities in the area. Upon arrival at the Circuit House in Bomdila, they were received by representatives from Thubchog Gatsal Ling monastery, including the master and Chakzoe, and members of the regional Tibetan freedom movement. At the guest house, they met with Sange Norbu, Circle Officer from the DC Office, Bomdila, and Khandu Thaungon, Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch of Northeast India.
The Speaker and the MP are scheduled to attend the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed temple Thubchog Gatsel Ling monastery in Bomdila on 4 November 2024.
