Speaker clarifies he was misquoted by media on His Holiness’ statement Tuesday, 28 October 2008, 4:00 p.m.
Dharamshala: Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile on Tuesday clarified that his official interview on the statement of His Holiness the Dalai Lama on 25 October was misquoted by some sections of media.The speaker was wrongly quoted by some sections of media that His Holiness the Dalai Lama had hinted, “ he is now on complete retirement”.“I gave a very brief gist of the three points covered by His Holiness in his speech namely-the need of specialization in education, the forthcoming Special General Meeting in November and about his full recovery from an old ailment,” Speaker Karma Chophel clarified in a press release issued on 28 October.“Therefore, as already, clarified by Mr. Tenzin Taklha of the Private Office in yesterday’s the Tribune, I was wrongly quoted,” he added.(Click to here for the press release)
