
Hamburg, 26 August: Finding Common Ground, a Sino-Tibetan conference opened today in the northern German city of Hamburg.
The conference is aimed at finding a common ground in pursuit of just and peaceful resolution to the issue of Tibet through dialogue and reconciliation.
Over 70 participants from at least 10 different countries from around the world, including Tibetans are taking part in this conference, which will conclude on 28th of August.
The conference is being organized by Central Tibetan Administration and coordinated by the Office of the Special Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Europe.

In his welcome address, Special Representative Kelsang Gyaltsen said, “our gathering here in Hamburg stands for the spirit of non-violence, dialogue and reconciliation in the pursuit of a just and peaceful resolution to the issue of Tibet”.
“This conference will not resolve the issue of Tibet. But it can, however, be the start and the beginning of an important process”, he added.
Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay, the elected political leader of the Central Tibetan Administration will deliver the keynote address, and Kalon Dicki Chhoyang, Minister for Information and International Relations, will welcome the participants.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama will address the conference tomorrow, which is being held at the Grand Elysee before departing Germany for India after His six-days successful visit to Hamburg.
