Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay, the political leader of the Tibetan people, welcomed the appointment of Ms. Federica Mogherini as the new High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. She takes office on 1 November 2014.

In 2012, Sikyong have met Ms. Federica Mogherini at her party head office. Ms. Mogherini had expressed her support for dialogue with China and her concern at the self-immolations in Tibet.
