Dharamshala: Sikyong Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration made his first official visit to the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA), the premier Tibetan arts organisation on Wednesday, 14 July. Sikyong was accompanied by Secretary Tsegyal Chukya Dranyi of the Kashag Secretariat, Secretary Jigme Namgyal of Education Department, and Additional Secretary Tsering Choezom.
Upon arrival, Sikyong was welcomed by TIPA Secretary Sonam Chophel along with the staff and artistes of the organisation. He then addressed the staff and artistes of the organisation at the institute’s auditorium. In the two-hour long address, he spoke about the 16th Kashag’s top priorities and policies including the ongoing digitisation project and other upcoming initiatives such as CTA’s demographic survey 2021, as well as the Kashag’s broader efforts to resume the Sino-Tibetan dialogue.
Following the address, he embarked on a brief inspection of the premise, infrastructure, and the instruments of the organisation including the auditorium, museum, studio, etc. He also presided over a meeting of the governing body and discussed future plans and past achievements of the institute. The visit concluded at 2:00 PM.
