
DHARAMSHALA: Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay, the democratically elected political leader of the Tibetan people, will leave Dharamshala on 8 October for a three-city official tour of the US.
Upon his arrival at New York City on 9 October, Sikyong will attend a gala dinner organised by the Tibetan Community of New York and New Jersey.
Sikyong will also give a public talk to the Tibetan community on 10 October (Saturday) at 02.00 pm at the New York Tibetan Community Hall.
On 13 October, Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay will be at the Salisbury University in Maryland to receive the prestigious Presidential Medal of the University.
The Presidential Medal is the highest honor that the University bestows on an individual for community leadership and forward thinking. The medal will be presented to Sikyong by Dr. Janet Dudley-Eshbach, President of Salisbury University.
The award ceremony will take place at 4:00 pm, Holloway Hall Auditorium, Salisbury University, Maryland.
Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay will also deliver a speech on ‘Democracy and the Third Way’ at the university. The speech is part of a lecture series ‘One Person Can Make a Difference’ organised by the University’s Bosserman Centre for Conflict Resolution. Past speakers at the lecture series include several former Heads of State and many Nobel Peace Prize Laureates.
Sikyong will be back in Dharamshala on 16 October.
