
PARIS: Dr. Lobsang Sangay, the Sikyong of Central Tibetan Administration, was received Thursday at the French National Assembly by one of the co-presidents of the Study Group on the Question of Tibet, Mr Jean-Patrick Gille, along with four other officials.
During an hour long interaction with the French deputies, the Sikyong thanked them for according him the honour and for the continuous support that the Tibet issue has received from the French parliamentarians.
The Sikyong spoke on the current situation inside Tibet and answered questions posed by the members on reinvigorating the awareness and support for the Tibetan cause.
Like in the Senate, the Sikyong also informed the deputies about the position of the Central Tibetan Administration vis a vis the series of self-immolations taking place inside Tibet and the way forward to solve the issue of Tibet through peaceful dialogue within the principles of the Middle Way policy of the Central Tibetan Administration.
In this regard, the Sikyong strongly urged the deputies in the National Assembly to support the Central Tibetan Administration in its quest to open dialogue process with the Chinese leadership, reiterating that the CTA do not seek to take power in Tibet when it regains its freedom.

Following the meeting, the Sikyong was taken on a short tour of the house in session.
The same evening, Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay met with around 300 members of Tibetan community in France. In his address, he underlined the importance of unity, education and preservation of Tibet’s unique cultural tradition including language and moral values for which he said, Tibetans are known worldwide and supported.
In Switzerland, the Sikyong will address a meeting of presidents of the Tibetan community and association from across Europe. He will speak to teacher and officials working on Tibetan language classes in each of the Tibetan communities.
Earlier on 17 April, Sikyong was received at the Senate by the members of Senate parliamentary group for Tibet.
