Bengaluru: Sikyong Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration addressed students and faculty members of St. Joseph University on 7 February 2024 during his visit.
Sikyong held a twenty-minute meeting with the university’s board of directors and addressed the students and faculties. Sikyong emphasised in his speech the global significance of the Tibetan plateau as well as the historical and contemporary ties between India and Tibet. Sikyong shared his thoughts on China’s current economic situation and underlined further the country’s harsh policies towards the Tibetan people and its meddling in and misrepresentation of Tibetan affairs.
Following the speech, the North East & Tibetan Students Forum and International Students presented cultural performances and held a lunch in honour of the visiting Tibetan political leader.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Rev. Dr Victor Lobo SJ, extended his appreciation to Sikyong for the visit and offered a souvenir as a token of gratitude.
