Dharamshala: In a condolence letter dated 24 November 2025, Sikyong Penpa Tsering expressed his heartfelt condolences to Senator Jean François Humbert, a friend and long-time supporter of Tibet.
In his letter, Sikyong wrote, “He was a man of integrity, measured in words, principled in action, and steadfast in his commitment to the Tibetan cause. His support for Tibet spanned decades. Whether through his work in the French Senate or his leadership within the International Information Group on Tibet, Senator Humbert ensured that Tibet’s voice was heard on the international stage. His advocacy has strengthened global awareness of the occupation of Tibet, as well as the cultural repression and human rights challenges faced by the Tibetan people.”
“I mourn the loss of a true friend and a genuine ally of Tibet. We will remember him with gratitude for the strength and sincerity of his support. At this difficult time, I, on behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration and the Tibetan people, extend my deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers to his family and friends.”
“May they find solace in knowing that his legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, including ours. Once again, please accept my heartfelt prayers during this time of loss.” Sikyong concluded in his message.
