Dharamshala: Sikyong Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration condoles the demise of David Sassoli, President of the European Parliament on behalf of the Tibetan people. David Sassoli passed away in Aviano (Italy) on January 11 after being hospitalised since December 26 of the last year.
In the condolence letter, Sikyong Penpa Tsering wrote:
“I am deeply saddened to learn of the untimely demise of H.E. David Sassoli, President of the European Parliament. On behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration and Tibetan people, I offer my deep condolences to his family and the members of the European Parliament in this time of grief.”
“For millions suffering oppressions worldwide, including the Tibetans, the European Parliament is a sanctum where their plights and voices are not only heard but also represented. President Sassoli truly embodied the values of freedom, justice, and democracy that formed the very bedrock of the European Union. In these turbulent and trying times, we hope that President Sassoli’s legacy and what he stood for will bolster the European Parliament’s continuing efforts in bringing out a more just and peaceful world.”
