Bengaluru: Sikyong Penpa Tsering addressed at the MS Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences’ Centre for National Security Studies on 8 February 2024, a day after his visit to St. Joseph University.
Upon arrival, Sikyong, accompanied by Chief Representative Officer Jigmey Tsultrim, was extended a warm reception by the University’s Chancellor, Dr MR Jayaram, and the other senior management.
In his address, Sikyong highlighted the importance of the Tibetan plateau and the environmental challenges it faces, including China’s weaponisation of Tibetan rivers. He further appraised the students and faculty members about the status of Tibet as an independent nation before the PLA’s occupation and the historical relationships between Tibet and India, among others. The gathering exhibited their keen interest and took active participation during the Q&A session following the talk.
Before concluding the official engagements in Bengaluru, Sikyong Penpa Tsering met and interacted with the Bengaluru-based Tibetan students at the Tibetan Youth Hostel.
