Rewalsar: Sikyong Penpa Tsering’s daylong official engagements at Tso Pema began with visits to Wogmin Thubten Shedrup Ling, and an assessment visit to the office of Tso Pema Coordinator, Rangden Tsogchung, the community hall, and Tibetan Primary Healthcare Centre.
It was followed by visits to the holy cave, Guru Statue, Zigar Drukpa Kargyud Institute, Zangdok Palri and Ogyen Heru-kai Nyingma monastery. Sikyong met with Tibetan community in Tso Pema this afternoon.
In his public address, Sikyong spoke about the 16th Kashag’s initiatives, in particular, the drive to collect the demographic data of exile Tibetans to build a proper system and advocacy to foreign countries regarding the Sino-Tibet issue.
Sikyong identified the migration of the youth to cities and foreign countries as a concern to the sustenance of the exile Tibetan community. On housing and land issues, Sikyong assured support to the Tibetan community after proper assessment of the conditions and stressed proper collection of data.
Concerning the political situation, he said that the Kashag had established a Permanent Strategy Committee for Sino-Tibet issue and they are making efforts to reach out to the Chinese government to resume negotiations based on the Middle Way Approach.
This is the first official visit of Sikyong to Mandi.
