Dharamshala: Sikyong Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration launched a pair of books on His Holiness the Dalai Lama by Tibetan Writer Sherab Dhargye earlier this morning at the auditorium of the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives (LTWA). Of the two books, one explores His Holiness’ understanding and realisations as per His successive speeches, and the other contains a compilation of those speeches in Tibetan.
The book launch was also attended by the Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel and Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang from the Tibetan Parliament in Exile (TPiE), Director of LTWA Ven Geshe Lhakdor and Secretary Yangten Rinpoche from the Gaden Phodrang, along with several other Tibetan Parliamentarians and a cohort of Tibetan scholars.
Sikyong underscored the pertinence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s teachings and guidance as Tibet nears a critical juncture while he ensured 16th Kashag’s firm adherence to His Holiness’ counselling. At the same time, Sikyong urged followers to sincerely practise His Holiness teachings over just venerating them. He lauded the author for his pioneering books, which also discusses His Holiness’ former lives, and implored Tibetan scholars to contribute to promoting His Holiness’ SEE Learning (Social, Emotional, and Ethical learning) education program through their scholarly works.
Apart from these, to highlight His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s life-long service to the Tibetan people, Sikyong highlights on pre-annexation reformation policies of His Holiness, the establishment of a vibrant Tibetan exile community, the introduction of a democratic system and proposal of the Middle Way Approach policy for resolving Sino-Tibet conflict among others.
The other distinguished guests also spoke during the event focusing on different aspects of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s achievements.
Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel talked about His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s equitable treatment of Tibetan religious schools and the unification of three traditional provinces under the exile administration, while Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang spoke about His Holiness’ empowerment of Tibetan women and introduction of the unprecedented Geshema degree.
Similarly, Ven Geshe Lhakdor remarked on His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s perception and knowledge that has tremendously influenced the domains of education and society while commending the author for his effort. In detailing His Holiness’ astute services in the preservation and promotion of Buddhism, Yangten Rinpoche underscored His Holiness’ inclusion of Buddhist scriptures into academic studies as a driving force for the spread of Buddhism.
