
DHARAMSHALA: Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay today met the chief minister of Uttarakhand, the northern Indian state which was ravaged by rain-triggered flooding last month. Over 1,000 people, mostly Indian pilgrims, died in the disaster.
“The Sikyong conveyed message of sympathy and support from His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Admnistration to Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna over the natural disaster. He handed over to the chief minister a donation of Rs 300,000 and Rs 238,201 from the Central Tibetan Administration and the Tibetan community in Dharamsala respectively for the relief mission,” an official accompanying the Sikyong at the meeting told TibetNet.
The Sikyong sought support from the chief minister for some problems faced by the Tibetan community in the state. The chief minister assured to give his best possible support.
Earlier in the morning, the Sikyong addressed Tibetans living in Tsering Dhonden and Dhondupling Tibetan Settlement at Clement-town.
