Shimla: Sikyong concluded his maiden official visit to Shimla today by meeting the governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla.
Others present at the meeting include Chief Representative Officer Tsewang Phuntsok, Additional Secretary Tenzin Norbu, Joint Secretary Tashi Dickey, and the staff of CRO.
During the meeting, Sikyong raised the issue of land lease faced by the Tibetan residents in Shimla and also apprised the Governor of the Tibet situation and the long-term threat of China. The Governor assured to extend the needed support.
Earlier this morning, Sikyong Penpa Tsering called on Shri Prabodh Saxena, the Chief Secretary of the State of Himachal Pradesh, at the latter’s office in Shimla.
The two had a discussion on the land-lease issue and the Chief Secretary assured of finding a recourse adding that he had the best interest of Tibetans in the decision-making process.
In the evening, Sikyong Penpa Tsering arrived at Kullu Palrabling on his first official visit. Upon arrival, Sikyong was received by Settlement Officier Tsultrim Dorjee and staff, Chair and Vice Chair of the Local Tibetan Assembly, Chair of the Rangden Tsogchung, Representatives from local monasteries, members of the Local Tibetan Youth Congress and Tibetan Women’s Association, representatives of local Ex-Servicemen association, Himalaya Buddhist association, National Democratic Party of Tibet, Tibetan Refugee Welfare association, Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch.
