TOKYO: CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay gave an exclusive interview to Ms Sakurai Yoshiko, a veteran journalist and head of think tank, Japan Institute of National Fundamentals, on her programme for Genron TV. The same day, he also gave a series of one on one interviews to leading newspapers like Hokkaido Shimbun, Japan Times, Newsweek and Mainichi Shimbun.
During the interviews, Dr Lobsang Sangay spoke about the Chinese government’s repression in Tibet and threat to Tibetan culture and religion, repercussion of destruction of Tibet’s natural environment on billions of people depending for water from major rivers originating from the Tibetan plateau, why the international should back the non-violent struggle of the Tibetan people, Middle Way Approach of the Central Tibetan Administration, and the selection process of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s reincarnation among other key issues.
Dr Sangay also thanked Ms Sakurai Yoshiko for writing a new book on Tibet titled Tibetan Freedom Struggle: Dialogue with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Prime Minister Dr Lobsang Sangay. The book touched upon why Japan should stand with the Tibet’s struggle for freedom and justice; invasion of Tibet by the People’s of China; Dream of Tibetans to return to their homeland; China of Threat; Tibetan resilience to restore freedom in Tibet; Dialogue with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Prime Minister Dr Lobsang Sangay among others. He expressed hope that many people could read this book and widen awareness on the issue of Tibet.
Later, President Dr. Sangay attended a dinner reception hosted in honour of visit to Japan by the Chiba Institute of Technology. Chiba Institute of Technology will offer scholarships to three Tibetans to study at their institute this year. Dr Sangay also met and interacted with two Tibetan students, Tenzin Kunga and Tenzin Namgyal, who are currently studying at the Chiba Institute of Technology.
