Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay condoles the demise of Swami Agnivesh (left) and Dr. Raghuvansh Prasad Singh(right).

Dharamshala: Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay, the democratically elected political leader of the Tibetan people, today condoled the demise of two Indian leaders, Former Union Minister Dr Raghuvansh Prasad Singh and Swami Agnivesh who passed away just days apart.

In his condolence message, Sikyong said, “On behalf of the Central Tibetan Administration and the Tibetan people, I offer our deepest condolences on the passing of a veteran socialist leader, and former Union Minister Dr Raghuvansh Prasad Singh and Indian Social activist, Arya Samaj leader Swami Agnivesh. Their demise is grieved not only by the people of India but Tibetans all over the world.”

“In his extensive political career, Dr Raghuvansh has played many major roles in the political spheres of the country. To the people of India, he was known as one of the greatest socialist leaders and a prominent political ideologist and to the Tibetans, he was a devoted supporter of the Tibetan cause who was greatly inspired by Jayaprakash Narayan, an independence activist and revolutionist the country has ever seen” said Sikyong Dr. Sangay.

Sikyong further wrote, “Dr Raghuvansh has shown his constant support to the Tibetans by raising Tibet issue at the parliament sessions. Similarly, he was at the forefront in many Tibet issue related campaigns and also participated in the convention of Tibet Support Group held in Bodh Gaya.

In his condolence for late Swami Agnivesh, Sikyong said, “Swami Agnivesh has constantly been a dedicated  supporter of Tibet’s cause who actively participated in the campaign for the Tibet cause frequently.”

“Well known for his participation in the 2008 boycott China Olympic campaign and Self-Immolation International campaign for Tibet, Swami Agnivesh won the hearts of the Tibetan people through his solidarity with the Tibet’s movement. We hope that his imminent hope and vision for the country and towards our cause shall be fulfilled by his followers”.

“Though we mourn the loss of two great Tibet supporters, we hope that their legacy will continue to inspire us” concluded Sikyong Dr Sangay.
