
DHARAMSHALA: At the invitation of the Takshashila Institute, a premiere think tank based in Bangalore, Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sanagay gave a keynote address on ‘Tibet as the key to geo-political strategies in South Asia’. The talk was attended by eminent scholars, former ambassadors, Members of Parliament, analysts etc.
Following his talk at the institute, Sikyong also visited the Tibetan schools and settlements in the South Indian state of Karnataka.
During his visits to the settlements and meetings with the public, Sikyong talked about the Middle Way Approach of the Central Tibetan Administration. He also spoke about Unity, Innovation and Self-Reliance: the three guiding principles of the 14th Kashag.
During his visits to the various Tibetan schools, Sikyong emphasised the importance of education to fulfill the dual objectives of a Tibetan student. i.e career prospects and furthering the larger Tibetan movement. Sikyong also apprised the students about the prioritisation of education by the present Kashag and the numerous scholarship schemes introduced by the education department to boost Tibetan education in exile.
Sikyong also talked about the Sino-Tibetan dialogue, the political situation inside Tibet, the sustenance of the Tibetan settlements in exile and the efforts made by the Central Tibetan Administration regarding these matters.
