DHARAMSHALA: Tibetan political leader Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay attended the district-level Dusshera festival cum mela at the Police Grounds in Dharamshala yesterday.
He was accompanied by Mr Karma Yeshi, Kalon for the Department of Finance, Ms Tenzin Dhardon Sharling, Information Secretary at DIIR and Tibetan settlement officer Mr Dawa Rinchen. Other guests at the event include Ms Rajni Vyas, Mayor of Dharamshala; Mr Chander Prakash Verma (IAS), Deputy Commissioner; Mr Sharwan Kumar (HAS), SDM and Mr Diljeet Thakur, Superintendent of Police.
Sikyong was invited as the chief guest by the local district administration led by the DC, the organisers of the annual Indian festival.
Sikyong arrived at the venue around 8:00 pm in the evening and was welcomed with bouquets and drum roll at the gate by staff of the local administration. Upon arrival on the stage, Sikyong and Finance Kalon were felicitated along with the other guests with traditional Himachali Kullu shawls and caps to honour their presence.
The event also included traditional folk performances by local troupes and presentation of Bollywood songs by local bands and singers.
