
GANGTOK: Tibetan political leader (Sikyong) Dr. Lobsang Sangay arrived in the north-eastern Indian state of Sikkim on Saturday on a five-day visit to the Tibetan settlements. Sikyong will address the general public and schoolchildren about the Kashag’s policies during his visit.
The Tibetan settlement officer and other dignitaries received Sikyong on his arrival at the airport in Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. The general public welcomed Sikyong at a reception at Hotel Tibet. Sikyong left Gangtok for Tibetan settlement in Ravangla in the evening. He is scheduled to visit the Tibetan school, monasteries and address the general public in Ravangla on Sunday.
With the current visit, Sikyong has visited all the Tibetan settlements in India and, most of the major Tibetan communities in Europe and north America since he took over the political authority from His Holiness the Dalai Lama in 2011.
