Shillong: Following the completion of a series of engagements in Tibetan communities in Tezu, Miao, Tuting, Tenzingang, and Bomdila, Sikyong Penpa Tsering arrived in Shillong earlier today.
Sikyong was received at Guwahati airport by Shillong Settlement Officer Pema Dhondup, President of Local Tibetan Assembly Shilok Tsering , and President of Bod Rangwang Denpai Legul Sonam.
Upon arrival at Guwahati airport, Sikyong Penpa Tsering met and interacted with Shri Pema Khandu ji, Honourable Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh in Assam and the two interacted for a while.
The members of Tibetan community in Meghalaya, Shillong headed by settlement officer and parliamentarian Tsering Dolma hosted a welcome reception for Sikyong and the CTA delegation.
Sikyong’s first visit in Shillong was to the Tibetan market there at Glory’s plaza where he interacted with the Tibetan shopkeepers and attended to their grievances.
Many of the local dignitaries and high ranking officials paid a courtesy call on Sikyong later that day. Among them were MLA of East Shillong Dr Ampreen Lyngdoh and Patricia Mukhim, editor of Shillong times, Smt. Isawanda Laloo, IAS Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District and IPS Shri Sylvester Nongtnger.
