SALT LAKE CITY — Tibet’s prime minister-in-exile is making an appearance at the University of Utah.
The Utah Tibetan Association says Lobsang Sangay will speak at the S.J. Quinney Law School Tuesday afternoon.
Zions Bank plans a reception for Tibetan refugee afterward.
Sangay is a Harvard law scholar and political activist. Supporters say they elected him in April 2011 to a position equal to prime minster after the Dalai Lama relinquished authority.
China has claimed Tibet as part of its territory for centuries. Tibetans say they were largely independent prior to the 1950 occupation by communist troops. Thousands of Tibetans live in Nepal and India.
