Dharamshala: Sikyong Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) addressed a group of students, who are partakers in the Winter Cultural Immersion Program, at the Kashag Secretariat earlier this morning.
To make participating students aware of Tibet’s geography, history, and current status, Sikyong informed the group, mostly studying at private schools across India, about various topics during an hour-long interaction. He implored students to read as many books as they could to acquire knowledge on issues concerning Tibet and urged them to disseminate the information to others.
About the current political status of Tibet, Sikyong apprised the students about how Tibetans settled in India following China’s annexation, the contributions of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in introducing a democratic system of governance in exile, and the community’s ongoing existential challenges arising from shrinkage of the population.
Sikyong further gave a brief introduction about CTA to the students before concluding his address.
