Sikkim’s Legislative Assembly Hosts Luncheon and His Holiness the Dalai Lama Addresses Sikkimese Intellectuals
Dharamshala 22 April 2005: Early this morning, His Holiness the Dalai Lama granted audiences to family members of Sikkimese dignitaries and then drove to the Guards Ground to continue his teachings on Relaxing the Mind Itself.
The speaker and the deputy speaker of the Sikkimese Vidhan Sabha, the state’s legislative body, hosted a luncheon for His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the Assembly Hall. The luncheon was attended by more than 40 Members of the Legislative Assembly and the ministers of the state cabinet. The speaker of the legislative assembly, Mr. Tarkarpa, escorted His Holiness the Dalai Lama for a quick tour of the Assembly Hall.
After the teachings which concluded at 4 PM, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, as requested, addressed Sikkim’s top intellectuals and scholars at Chindhan Bhavan. More than 300 Sikkimese scholars, academics, writers and doctors, after the address, engaged in a lively interaction with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
