Mandi, Himachal Pradesh: The Tibetan settlement officer of Mandi, Tenzin Tsultrim paid a courtesy call to the newly-elected Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Mandi. Virender Bhatt Sharma, former Deputy Mayor was elected as the Mayor and Madhuri Kapoor was elected as the Deputy Mayor during the recently held election of Mandi Town.
TSO Tsultrim extended greetings to them and sought their continuous support for Tibetans residing in Mandi. The new Deputy Mayor has been an active patron since the formation of the Mandi Indo-Tibetan Friendship Association in 2016. During the meeting, the settlement officer explained the structure and functionality of the Indo-Tibetan Friendship Association to the new Deputy Mayor and requested her assistance and participation in the advocacy programs. The settlement officer of Mandi also discussed the framework of the current situation of ITFA Mandi and the agenda of current affairs including the situation of Tibetans in Tibet. The meeting was concluded with the extend of gratitude and appreciation by the Tibetan representative to the central government and the Himachal state government of India for looking after the welfare of Tibetans under its jurisdiction.
