Dharamshala: Tashi Topgyal Lhundupgang, who has been serving as the Secretary of the Office of the Auditor General (OAG), Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), was sworn in this morning as the new Auditor General at Sikyong Hall. The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice Commissioner Yeshi Wangmo.
He was elected as the Auditor General on the twelfth day of the ninth session of the 17th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, on 29 March 2025.
The ceremony was attended by a distinguished group of CTA dignitaries, including Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Sikyong Penpa Tsering, Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang, Kalon (Minister) Tharlam Dolma Changra (Department of Education), Kalon Dolma Gyari (Department of Security), Kalon Norzin Dolma (Department of Information and International Relations), Chief Election Commissioner Lobsang Yeshi, Public Service Commission member Tsultrim Dorjee, and standing committee members of the 17th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile. The event was also attended by Secretaries from various CTA departments and offices, as well as senior staff members.
The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt gesture from the dignitaries, who draped the new Auditor General in traditional Tibetan scarves as a mark of felicitation.
Brief bio of Tashi Topgyal Lhundupgang:
Tashi Topgyal was born in Bhutan on 2 April 1974 to Dhargay Tsering and Tsering Youdon. On 7 September 1996, he joined the Central Tibetan Administration as a probationary Under Secretary at the Office of the Auditor General. He was later appointed as a permanent staff on 5 April 1997 in the same position.
On 7 July 2000, he was promoted to Deputy Secretary, and then to Joint Secretary on 15 November 2006. After a short stint as Accountant cum Secretary at the Office of Tibet in Tokyo, he was transferred to the Department of Education as its Additional Secretary on 9 September 2009.
Subsequently, on 6 June 2016, he was transferred back to the Office of the Auditor General as Acting Secretary, and was promoted to Secretary on 9 October 2018.
Before his election as the Auditor General of the CTA on the twelfth day of the ninth session of the 17th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, he served as the Secretary of the Office of the Auditor General.
