Dharamshala: On 24 February 2026, corresponding to the 8th day of the first Tibetan month of the Fire Horse Year 2153, Secretary Dhondul Dorjee of the Department of Religion and Culture, Central Tibetan Administration, attended the ritual bathing and enrobe ceremony for the young reincarnation of the 12th Bardok Chusang Rinpoche at Norbu Guest House as a guest.
Chusang Tulku Rinpoche, son of the late Kyabje Bardok Chusang Trinley Gyatso, submitted a request to His Holiness the Dalai Lama seeking recognition of the reincarnation. Following divination and spiritual consultation, His Holiness graciously recognised Tenzin Tashi, born to father Phurbu Tsering, and mother Tsering Dolkar, both residing in Nepal, as the reincarnation of Bardok Chusang Rinpoche.
On 24 February 2026, the ritual bathing and enrobing ceremonies were performed for the young reincarnation. Subsequently, the young Rinpoche was granted an audience with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, who presided over the traditional hair-cutting ceremony.
At 10:30 a.m., Secretary Dhondul Dorjee and other guests welcomed the young Rinpoche with incense and a traditional ceremonial greeting, escorting him to the assembly hall. Rinpoche offered a ceremonial scarf to His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s throne and lit butter lamps before taking his seat.
Traditional tea and sweet rice were served at the gathering. Representative of the Office of Tibet in Nepal, Tsepri Lopan Tulku Ngawang Chokdup, presented a brief biography of the previous incarnation of the Rinpoche. Following this, ceremonial scarves were offered to the young Rinpoche.
The Abbot of Namgyal Monastery and Chusang Rinpoche offered a Mendrel Tensum — a symbolic auspicious offering representing the body, speech, and mind of the Buddha. Ceremonial scarves were presented to the family members and attendants of the young Rinpoche.
The ceremony concluded with words of gratitude from Chusang Rinpoche, followed by a banquet served to all guests.
