
Dharamshala: On 4 March 2026, the Pal Shenten Menri Ling Monastery based in Dolanji Tibetan Settlement held a ceremony to bestow the Geshe Certificate upon the 23rd Karam-pa batch. The certificates were graciously conferred by the 34th Menri Trizin, Kyabje Lungtok Dawa Dargyal Rinpoche, to a total of 13 recipients.
Representing the Central Tibetan Administration, Secretary Dhondul Dorjee from the Department of Religion and Culture attended the event as the chief guest.
The ceremony commenced in the morning, during which the recipients took the vow of Karam-pa.
Following this, Menri Lopon Thinley Nyima Rinpoche presented the title of Geshe to the members of the 23rd Karam-pa batch in the afternoon. Thereafter, the 34th Kyabje Menri Trizin Rinpoche offered the auspicious prayer Ngowa Delek Ma for the recipients, followed by a recital of the Monpa Yongdrup Ma prayer by members of the monastery’s 23rd Karam-pa batch.
The certificates were then graciously presented by the 34th Kyabje Menri Trizin Rinpoche.
Following further prayers by the new Karam-pas, Secretary Dhondul Dorjee addressed the gathering as chief guest. The ceremony eventually concluded in the evening after the enthronement of the new Karam-pas.
Since 1986, a total of 194 Geshes have graduated from Shenten Menri Ling Monastery, while 126 Geshes have graduated from Triten Norbutse Institution since 2001—bringing the total to 320 from both institutions.
Prior to attending the ceremony, Secretary Dhondul Dorjee received an audience with the 34th Kyabje Menri Trizin Rinpoche and Menri Lopon Rinpoche. The Secretary also met with Menri Shedrup Khenpo Geshe Nyima Dhondup and Lopon Geshe Gelek Gyatso before departing Dolanji. During these meetings, the Secretary presented His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s latest book, Voice for the Voiceless, to Kyabje Menri Trizin Rinpoche and others.
