Dharamshala: Secretary Dhondul Dorjee of the Department of Religion and Culture (CTA), attended the annual great ritual practice of the Secret Hayagriva (Yidam Tamdrin Yangsang) and the five forms of protector Nechung Choegyal (Gyalpo Ku-nga Sokkhang Drupchen) at Nechung Dorje Drayang Ling Monastery in Dharamshala on 15 May 2026.
This annual practice was occasionally held every year from the 22nd day of the 3rd month to 10th day of the 4th month of Tibetan lunar calendar.
As part of the monastery’s annual tradition, the 18-day ritual was observed from the 22nd day of the third month to the 10th day of the fourth month of the Tibetan lunar calendar. The ceremonies commenced with the purification and consecration of tormas (dough offerings) during the opening days. This was followed by sessions of chanting and the accumulation of sacred mantras to invoke the deities and request the fulfilment of their enlightened activities, ultimately concluding with offerings of gratitude. The ritual concluded with fire pujas and the ceremonial throwing of torma offerings.
These religious observances are dedicated to invoking the support of the Yidam deities and Dharma protectors for the continued flourishing of Buddhism, as well as for the fulfilment of the noble aspirations and long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and all revered holders of the Buddhist teachings. The rituals are also performed to pray for the swift resolution of the Tibet-China conflict and for the elimination of suffering and calamities throughout the world, including wars, natural disasters, epidemics, and famine.
