Dharamshala: Secretary Dawa Tsering formally took charge as the new Director of Tibet Policy Institute, the official think tank of the Central Tibetan Administration on Monday, 26 July. The hand-over ceremony was held at the Tibet Policy Institute in the attendance of DIIR Secretary Karma Choeying, along with the researchers and staff of the institute.
In a brief inaugural speech, he spoke about the importance of the institute and how the efforts of the institute could enhance and amplify the collective efforts of the Tibetan movement led by the Central Tibetan Administration. “While the Kashag is the vanguard of the Tibetan movement, it is the duty of the Tibet Policy Institute to provide the Kashag with the relevant data and information derived from quality research so as to make the efforts of Kashag more effective, fruitful, and potent,” he said.
Secretary Dawa Tsering was formerly the Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the Office of Tibet based in Taipei, Taiwan. He took over as the new Director from Additional Secretary Tenzin Lekshay who is transferred to the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR).
