Dharamshala: Secretary Chime Tseyang of the Department of Religion and Culture, CTA, attended Ratna Menling Nunnery’s commencement of Geshema Degree to its first batch of Karampa on 11 March.
In the morning of the above-mentioned day, the first batch Karampas of the nunnery and lamas and monks gathered at the assembly hall to pray, followed by Menri Lopon Rinpoche’s conferment of Geshema title in the afternoon. Moreover, Gyalwa Menriwa blessed and bestowed a Geshema degree to the recipients.
The chief guest of the commencement ceremony, Secretary Chime Tseyang felicitated the first batch karampas of the nunnery while recollecting His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s vision of allowing nuns to pursue further religious studies over simply practising the rituals during the initial stage of Tibetan Buddhism revival in India. Since then, all schools of Tibetan Buddhism in exile implemented the advice and began bestowing several degrees to nun-scholars, to which Secretary applauded the heads of all schools and sects for their execution of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s guidance.
The event’s chief guest also commended the spiritual heads and leaders of the Yungdrung Bon in particular for their support towards His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Administration.
