London: The Scottish Parliament’s Cross-Party Group on Tibet (CPGT) issued a two-page statement on Climate Change on The Third Pole, a summary and analysis of recent scientific findings by the Scottish Centre for Himalayan Research (SCHR), the University of Aberdeen for the Cross-Party Group on Tibet, on 22 May.
In the statement, CPGT commends the SCHR report to political colleagues across the UK and international governments and bodies to acknowledge the strategic importance of the Third Pole and the need for international cooperation in tackling climate change in this region.
The CPGT also calls on the UK government to ensure that the issue of climate change in the Third Pole is addressed within the context of COP26.
The Office of Tibet, London, is pleased with the study analysis and its recommendations, and commended the efforts and initiative by CPGT and SCHR in producing this timely report on Climate Change on the Third Pole, its Causes, Processes and Consequences.
