Every Saturday as a part of its shoutout campaign, DIIR’s Social Media Desk will be profiling a civil servant of Central Tibetan Administration. This week we are pleased to profile Zamlha Tempa Gyaltsen.
Question: Could you briefly tell us about yourself?
Answer: My name is Zamlha Tempa Gyaltsen, I did my schooling from Rex Higher Secondary School, Kodaikanal International School, and did my further studies at College for Higher Tibetan Studies.
Question: Please explain your job description and how best does your work represent you or vice versa.
Answer: I am a Research Fellow at the Tibet Policy Institute, CTA. I do research on current environmental issues in Tibet. I love nature and I enjoy being surrounded by mountains and rivers. Tibet is one of the most beautiful and ecologically significant region for the whole world, and it is important that we should strive to protect it.Being able to do research on Tibet’s environmental conservation gives me immense joy.
Question: What inspired you to serve the Central Tibetan Administration?
Answer: Responsibility as an exiled Tibetan.
Question: What does it mean for you to be a CTA Civil Servant?
Answer: It gives me immense pride and satisfaction to be a CTA Civil Servant, especially being able to contribute in Tibet’s environmental conservation.
Question: How best do you think you could make a difference to CTA?
Answer: I would say that I have been able to write and talk about the global significance of the Tibet’s environment and need for its protection at various International platforms.
Question: Who is your role model and why?
Answer: My Uncle is my role model because of his sense of responsibility and dedication towards any work he does for Sera Jey Monastery, and it is inspiring.
Question: What is your piece of advice for young Tibetans serving or wishing to serve at CTA?
Answer: My advice for young Tibetan who is willing to serve at CTA: ‘It is not about how long you serve, how well you serve is important.’
