
WASHINGTON: As invited, Sakya Gongma Trichen Rinpoche visited the office of Tibet based in Washington DC on 8 May 2018. During the visit, Rinpoche was welcomed by OOT Representative Ngodup Tsering, Representatives from ICT, the two Directors of Voice of America and Radio Free Asia, Representatives from the regional Tibetan community and Tibetan Youth Congress and staff from the Office of Tibet.
Welcoming Sakya Gongma Rinpoche, Representative Ngodup Tsering introduced the representatives of the various Tibetan organisations and apprised Rinpoche of the various activities undertaken by the Office of Tibet. The representatives of the Tibetan organisations also gave a brief overview of their respective activities and programs.
Rinpoche, in his brief address, expressed his pleasure at the works undertaken by the Tibetan political administration and thanked the Kashag led by President Dr Lobsang Sangay and all concerned for their hard work in trying to fulfill the aspirations of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Considering the increasing number of Tibetans in the United States, Rinpoche stressed the importance of retaining the Tibetan identity, language and culture. He explained the richness of Tibetan religion and its potential to benefit not just the Tibetan people but the entire sentient beings.
