Moscow: The department of Intellectual property of Yandex invited Honorary Representative Telo Tulku Rinpoche to the headquarters of Yandex to seek consultation on improving one of the online services Yandex provides which is called “Yandex Zen”. “Yandex Zen” is a personal recommendations service created by Yandex that uses machine learning technology. Zen creates a feed of content that automatically adjusts to the interests of a user. The selection of content is based on the analysis of browsing history, user-specified preferences, location, time of day, and other factors. Yandex Zen has a weekly active user audience of more than 20 million.
Yandex is the largest technology company in Russia and the largest search engine on the internet in Russia. It also has the largest market share of any internet search engine from Europe and CIS countries and “Yandex” is the 5th largest search engine worldwide after Google, Baidu, Bing, and Yahoo.
Honorary Representative Telo Tulku Rinpoche was welcomed by two specialists and was given a tour of the facilities and Museum which held a large collection of computers used in earlier decades. A meeting was held to consult on how to promote Buddhist programs, Educational programs, and awareness of the Tibetan struggle and also how Yandex can help provide technical assistance.
“Based on the statistics and users of Yandex search engine, there is so much to explore on how to use technology to make more awareness of the Tibetan cause and spread the wisdom of Buddhism which is very relevant in today’s age,” said Telo Tulku Rinpoche. “We look forward to collaborating with Yandex to bring the global community closer,” he added.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to meet and discuss various ideas in the near future.
