
Rimini, Italy: On the second day of her official visit to Italy, Representative Thinley Chukki of the Office of Tibet in Switzerland met with Dr Jamil Sadegholvaad, President of the Province of Rimini, along with Deputy Mayor and Tibetologist Chiara Bellini and Alice Parma, Member of the Emilia-Romagna Regional Council.
On the morning of 28 February at around 11:00 am, Representative Thinley Chukki, accompanied by Claudio Cardelli, President of the Italy-Tibet Friendship Association, and Elio Marini, visited the Rimini City Hall for a meeting with the officials. Sangay Kyab, Europe-China Relations Officer of the Office of Tibet in Switzerland, also accompanied the Representative.
During the meeting, the Representative briefed the officials on the current situation inside Tibet and the global peace initiatives of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, while recalling His Holiness’s previous visit to the city. Dr Jamil Sadegholvaad expressed admiration for His Holiness’s work and discussed the need for future collaborative efforts, conveying his openness to strengthening such initiatives.
Following the discussion, the Representative presented ceremonial scarves and biography books of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Dr Sadegholvaad, Chiara Bellini, and Alice Parma.
Later that day at 5:00 pm, the Representative travelled to Macerata to attend the premiere of the documentary film “Meditation on the Summit” dedicated to the renowned Tibetologist Giuseppe Tucci, where she delivered remarks.
In her address, she highlighted the deep-rooted historical ties between Italy and Tibet fostered through the dedication of early Italian Tibetologists such as Tucci and successive generations of scholars. She noted that this bond has been further strengthened by the leadership and grace of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Expressing particular honour to attend the screening in Tucci’s birthplace, she praised his significant contribution to introducing Tibet and Tibetan culture to the Western world.
The event was also attended by Riccardo Sacchi, Tourism Councillor of Macerata, and Adolfo Morganti, both of whom delivered remarks.
At the conclusion of the programme, the Representative presented ceremonial scarves, biography books of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and photo albums to the speakers.
