Paris: Representative Tashi Phuntsok, Office of Tibet, Brussels, Mr Namgyal Samdup, Coordinator, Office of Tibet, Paris, along with Mr Jigmee called on Dagopo Rinpoche during his recent weekend visit to Paris.
This is a part of periodical calls that the Representative has been making with Rinpoche. Dagpo Rinpoche, a very respected teacher in France and one of the first Tibetan Rinpoches to arrive in Europe, has been a great supporter of the Office. The meetings are especially important in view of Rinpoche’s ripe age.
Among many things discussed, Rinpoche was immensely pleased with the success of the Third Europe Tibetan Buddhist Conference held in Belgium in December. He is a strong proponent of the continuation of the institution of reincarnation.
Despite his delicate health, Rinpoche was greatly encouraged at his latest visit to Asia, especially in India. He has been called upon by disciples and monasteries to transmit lineages of some Buddhist teachings that he holds and he is determined with renewed energy to visit India again, health hazards notwithstanding.
While informed about the proposal for an International Buddhist Conference in winter this year in India, Rinpoche was enthusiastic as he has not visited Bodh Gaya for a long time.
Rinpoche also kindly agreed to take a session on Buddhism in June at the 20th edition of the Himalayan Festival that the Office of Tibet and Mason du Tibet, Paris will organise in Paris.
