
Representative Sonam Frasi, Office of Tibet, London speaks at ‘Together for Uyghur – A Holocaust Memorial event’, organised by René Cassin and CSW.
London: Representative Mr. Sonam Tsering Frasi, Office of Tibet, London participated in an online event titled ‘Together for Uyghur- A Holocaust Memorial event jointly hosted by two organizations: René Cassin, the Jewish voice for human rights and CSW, a Christian human rights organization specializing in freedom of religion or belief on 25 January.
In the online event, four prominent speakers shared their beliefs and support to action for Uyghurs people. The speakers include:
- Ziba Murat, daughter of retired Uyghur doctor Gulshan Abbas who was recently sentenced to 20 years in prison because of her family members activism in US.
- Sonam T Frasi, FCA, RAS, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for Northern Europe, Poland and the Baltic States based in London, UK
- Andrew Copson, Chief Executive of Humanists UK and President of Humanists International
- The Rt Hon and Rt Rev Lord Rowan Williams, former Archbishop of Canterbury
Ziba Murat shared her own experiences as an Uyghur and the suffering of her people. She said she is not speaking about her, not about Uyghur people, but by addressing this individual case by demanding her mother’s freedom, we are also protecting the future of the world and the conscience of the humanity.
Representative Mr. Sonam Tsering Frasi spoke about a reflection on religious genocide and repression in Tibet for seven decades under the Chinese communist regime. In his concluding remarks, he shared the prayer of wisdom, solidarity, and oneness of all humanity called Never Give UP by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
