November 28, 2019, Toronto, Canada: Representative of the Office of Tibet, Washington D.C., Ngodup Tsering called upon the leaders of Ontario, Canada to support human rights in Tibet. Representative took the opportunity to present the present dire situation of Tibet.
The meeting was chaired by Majority House Leader Paul Calandra and was attended by Members of Provincial Parliament( MPP) Teresa Armstrong (Opposition Chief Whip in the Assembly), MPP Percy Hatfield (former chair of Ontario PFT), MPP Effie J. Triantafilopoulos, MPP Parm Gill, MPP Michael Parsa, MPP Christine Hogarth, and MPP Bhutila Karpoche.
Bhutila Karpoche, the first Tibetan elected in public office in North America and chair of Ontario Parliamentary Friends of Tibet, organized the meeting in collaboration with Canada Tibet Committee and Tibetan Canadian Cultural Center. Bhuti la introduced the members of provincial parliament of Ontario and briefed, new -Tibet related initiatives she has undertaken since her election to the Provincial Parliament.
In a separate meeting, Representative Ngodup Tsering met MP Arif Virani (former chair of Parliamentary Friends of Tibet) to congratulate him for his re-elction. Representative Tsering was joined by CTC director Sherap Therchin and the president of TCCC Tsering Wangyal, VP Tsering Dorjee, and Chinese liaison office, Tsultrim Gyatso in both the meetings.
Representative Tsering is here to attend a Chinese outreach event organised by the office of Tibet. They will meet with Tibetan youths and community members separately in next two days. Representative is accompanied by Tsultrim Gyatso, Chinese liaison officer at OoT.
