Washington DC: The 11th annual Tibet Lobby Day which began on the 24th of March, organized by the Washington DC-based International Campaign for Tibet was successfully concluded on 26 March with the meeting of members of Congress to support for Tibet. There are over 134 Tibetan-Americans advocacy group from 24 different states, and the majority of them are youth.
The participants attended an open discussion session with Representative Ngodup Tsering at Office of Tibet, Washington DC.
While addressing the gathering, Representative Ngodup Tsering thanked the participants for investing their precious time in advocating for Tibet. In his keynote address, he introduced the three major tasks that the Office of Tibet focuses on.
And there are:
First, advocacy work to seek support from the American government and people.
Second, building stronger Tibetan community to sustain with preservation of our unique culture.
Third, reaching out to the Chinese and educate them about the factual situation of Tibet.
Representative also urged the participants to get involved in Tibetan movement on a daily basis rather than keeping it aside on special days or occasions.
And the meeting wrapped up with questions and answers session from youth and elders alike on various subjects.
